Further Mathematics broadens the student’s understanding of Mathematics by introducing new topics of Pure Mathematics and a larger selection of mathematical applications. Pure Mathematics topics include matrices, complex numbers, differential equations and Maclaurin and Taylor series. In year 12 Further Pure 1, Statistics 1 and Decision Maths 1 are taught, leading to an AS in Further Mathematics. In year 13, students study Further Pure 2 and 3 and Statistics 2, leading to A2 Further Mathematics. Students must also study the standard Maths AS level in year 12 and the standard Maths A2 Level in year 13.
