Geography is a subject that is relevant to everyone’s life and experiences. These AS/A2 courses are designed for students who have lively and enquiring minds and an interest in the environment and current affairs. It aims to engage students in the subject of Geography, which offers so much to our understanding of the planet. Students must be prepared to explore new ideas, and have an ability to communicate ideas effectively. The 4-unit specification allows a balance between students’ own particular physical, human and/or environmental interests and key geographical topics that provide them with the knowledge, understanding and skills for further study at higher education or for employment. COURSE STRUCTURE The specification has been designed to allow geographers the flexibility to build programmes that suit their own particular interests and needs. The units cover physical, human and environmental geography, and skills are developed through fieldwork and research. The topics covered include some familiar from GCSE level, and some new areas of study.
