Post-16 Art at Kings Priory is now a linear two year course. The course consists of two distinct modules. Personal Investigation This is the practical coursework carried out over the two years and accounts for 60% of the final mark. The separate specialisms offered in the department include painting, sculpture/ceramics, and printmaking. A portfolio of practical work showing their personal response to either a starting point, brief, scenario or stimulus devised and provided by the learner or school is common to all specialisms. Learners are required to establish a written and, where appropriate, illustrated component, which compliments their practical explorations. Externally Set Task This is an early release paper which will be issued on 1st February in the year of certification and will provide learners with a number of themes, each with a range of written and visual starting points, briefs and stimuli. In a 15 hour practical test the planning work is resolved into a final response which together with the preparatory work accounts for the remaining 40% of the marks.
