AS: You will learn to navigate the contemporary media landscape as a consumer and a producer. You will investigate the latest trends in contemporary media usage and practice, from the role of Social Networking sites in international politics to Alternative Reality Gaming as a method of Film Promotion. Your understanding of media theory will be constantly underpinned by your practical media coursework, working on a range of products from trailers to print, web pages to radio broadcasts. A2: As your studies continue you will work with greater academic and practical independence. You will engage with the debates and discussions created by the contemporary media with a particular focus on Representations of People and Places, including cross cultural factors, alternative representations and stereotyping. You will also consider the impact of New and Digital Media. Once again practical work will reinforce your understanding of these areas. You will have greater freedom in your coursework, choosing your own area of study as the focus for a critical investigation and a linked practical production
