Fragments of childhood memories are with us all the time and can sometimes be quite vivid. Here is a chance to explore one or two of your own in poetry, prose, diary or any other form you wish. We will explore the uses of the fragments for writers of autobiography and fiction, or for exploring aspects of our lives. Subjects we will touch upon include: the unreliability of memory; the use of memory as a trigger for creativity; different ways of tackling autobiographical fragments; and the emotional resonance of incidents from childhood., At the end of the course you will have considered some moments from your past and will have shaped them into satisfying autobiographical or fictional pieces. , The course is designed for existing and experienced writers who want to develop a robust critical method by applying techniques to their own work and that of others. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the course.
