Flower Painting - Improvers

This course is an opportunity for students to learn a variety of skills and techniques in drawing and painting flowers. You will be introduced to a range of different media and methods of application in order to explore the abstract and concrete qualities of flowers. You will also look at the work of both traditional and contemporary artists to inform and inspire your work., , By the end of the course students will be able to:, • Demonstrate the use of a range of media, • Demonstrate the successful use of brushes and other tools to mix and apply paint, • Look at and take inspiration from the work and practise of a variety of artists, • Work to relevant health and safety guidelines, , , This course is for Improvers and those wanting to refresh their skills.It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils., You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices., If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you e.g. A4 sketch book and pencils, rubber.
