The English language is all around us - in adverts, newspapers, subtitles, and webpages. The course explores the English Language from different perspectives. You will study topics such as: Language Development in Children, Accent and Dialect, the Changes in Language Across Time, Spoken Language and Political Correctness. There are two modules at A2: Module 1 - Language Explorations (2.5hour June exam) covering A. Language Variation - study of how and why language changes and varies. B. Language Discourse - study of a range of popular texts which discuss language topics/ issues. Module 2 - Language Investigations and Interventions (3000 word CW folder) - This module provides the opportunity to investigate language independently. The focus is on spoken language.
