Theme 1: Health and well-being Theme 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness Theme 4: Professional development Learners must achieve: 14 mandatory units and 2 optional units Credit Value: 33 -To gain the qualification, learners will be required to be assessed by a qualified assessor, and will be asked to produce a portfolio of evidence to show that they meet the required standard. Learners must be able to demonstrate their knowledge and practice. Attendance at college is on a part-time basis; learners are expected to attend at least 80% of the programme. Learners will be shown how to gather evidence to meet the Standards.Learning is achieved through a variety of methods: attending workshops, sharing experiences, views and ideas with other learners, professional discussion, and feedback and review from an assessor.Progression onto the level 3 course will be encouraged once completing this level at a pass and after achieving GCSE English Language and maths at a C grade or above. Once the level 3 qualification is complete progression into the industry could be as an Early Years Practitioner in a pre-school, nursery or a reception class in a school.
