A Level Graphic Communication is a visually creative course where you learn new skills in both traditional methods and digital software for graphic design outcomes. You'll explore a range of graphic media, techniques and processes, using both traditional and new technologies as part of this stimulating and practical course. Four elements make up the course, research, experimentation, refinement and digital final work. All elements will include traditional art and design techniques that have digital outcomes. The course offers a range of activities that are set outside of the course work projects, from Adobe Photoshop skills and Adobe Illustrator along with drawing/mounting skills. The course will equip you with the skills to progress to higher education and provide you with a strong base for employment in line with industry practice skills and knowledge.

Name: A Level Graphic Communication (New) Qualification title: GCE AS Level in Art and Design Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment How you will be assessed Formative (half way) assessments with verbal and written feedback will help to further ideas and grades, and summative (end) assessments will be given when the projects are completed, also with verbal and written feedback. There are four main criteria assessed: AO1 - Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. AO2 - Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops. AO3 - Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress. AO4 - Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements. A Level - Component 1 is worth 60% of the marks which must be supported by written work between 1500 - 3000 words. Component 2 is worth 40% of the mark and will have 15 hours of supervised time at the end of the project.
