You will gain an in-depth insight into criminal law exploring non-fatal offences, murder, manslaughter, assault, battery, actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm and wounding. Students also examine the defences of insanity, automatism, consent, intoxication, self-defence/prevention of crime and mistake. In Unit 4, you'll explore the Law of Tort and Concepts of Law. You will examine the range of civil wrongs (Torts) and the defences open to defendants. The unit also asks what is the purpose of the law and who should be responsible for the law's development? You will also evaluate theories about the relationship between law, justice, fault and morality.
