This course provides an introduction to the outdoor sector enabling learners to build a career in outdoor activities and adventure sports. Outdoor adventure is a rich and diverse field with many opportunities for career development. This exciting course enables the learners to gain the knowledge and skills they will need to work in this area. Learners will be expected to participate and experience a wide range of outdoor pursuits involving land and water based activities. Course Content Students will complete 19 modules over two years of full time study and build a portfolio of assessments. In addition there will be a variety National Governing Body awards on offer dependant on age and ability of student. A period of work placement is included during which time learners will use and develop skills acquired on the course. The course is approximately 50% practical and 50% theory in its content. A willingness to participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities is essential: English & Maths We are committed to helping students improve their skills in English and maths. Students on a full-time course at College who missed out on GCSE qualifications at grades A-C in these subjects at school will attend additional classes and receive support to enhance their grades. Depending on individual ability, students will work towards GCSE, City & Guilds or Functional Skills awards to ensure that they have the qualifications needed to progress to university or employment.
