Glass Fusing

Stained glass is a beautiful and creative medium. This course will show you how to produce interesting patterns, textures and shapes in glass. , You will cover the basic principles of glass fusing including positive relief, negative relief, tack fusing, full fusing, use of confetti and stringers. Additionally you will undertake an individual project of your own choosing including the use of slump moulds. The programme for students with some experience in glass and fusing will be by negotiation. Beginners and those with some experience. may join. You will need to: , Understand the potential benefit from the programme of study; Read and interpret tasks; Communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable; Manage your own time; Undertake critical reflection and evaluation; and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance and evelop personal skills. A degree of manual dexterity is required.

Entry requirements

Essential. First session : novices - sheet of 3mm glass at least A3 in size. Experienced - design ideas and drawings or an ongoing project and tools.Novices please do not purchase specialist tools before the start of the course. Glass cutters will be provided for the first few sessions. The requirements of each student and the amount and type of glass differs widely so you will be asked by the tutor to pay for any materials you use on an individual basis. Health and Safety: You must wear closed toe shoes, All masks, gloves and ear defenders will be supplied if necessary, No drinks are allowed in the studio because of the possible risks of contamination.
