Italian - Moving on to Advanced

UPDATED 20151112 11:44:35

Is this the right course for me? You should have studied Italian at Intermediate level in the recent past or you may have maintained your level of Italian by spending time in the country and/or with Italian friends. You may have reached a Grade 8 or more on the Languages Ladder. Some learners will have completed a course at this level in the previous term. What will I learn? You will improve your spoken and written Italian and by the end of the course you will be able: To understand longer listening passages and recognise people's points of view. To answer simple unprepared questions in conversation or following presentation. To understand written longer texts and recognise people's points of view. To write a text (e.g. report or a letter)conveying simple opinions and/or points of view To exchange information and views on current issues relating to German-speaking countries e.g. work, travel, customs, food, regions, sport. How will I learn? The tutor will organise activities to practise speaking; writing, reading and listening to Italian. You will sometimes work in pairs or in small groups with your fellow students or watch a DVD/listen to a CD. You may also learn via PowerPoint and the Internet. The emphasis will be on speaking and understanding so expect the main language of the classroom to be Italian! Will I gain a qualification? Yes if you wish. You will have the opportunity to climb the Languages Ladder by receiving a Grade Certificate in one or more skills (speaking, listening, reading or writing. The scheme is optional but many learners decide to take this route. Your tutor will give you more information. What can I do next? You will be able to continue your studies next term at a higher level.
