Core Maths will be distinct from A-level Maths. Its main purpose is to prepare you for higher level study with a significant mathematical focus such as Engineering, Economics and the Sciences, or in areas where mathematical knowledge and its application are nonetheless important such as in Geography, Business and the Social Sciences. Of course, it may be that you just want to keep studying Maths to complement your other A-levels. Core Maths content will focus on: The application of mathematical knowledge to address problems and questions Representing situations mathematically Use of mathematical and statistical knowledge to make logical and reasoned arguments in a variety of contexts. The Core Maths qualification will fit alongside your main 16-18 programme and is designed to be taken over two years, in addition to the minimum 3 A-levels or equivalent Wellsway expects.
