So much of what happens to us is taken for granted. Sociology asks us to investigate and analyse what many people count as common-sense and in so doing uncovers competing explanations for the way society works. Some people have argued that sociology is subversive because it questions that nature of social order and how society is organised. On this course you will develop skills to argue and debate in written and verbal forms. You will be able to reach informed judgements based on the critical evaluation of evidence, understand the process for undergoing small scale social research and apply knowledge gained about the social world to everyday life.
