AS UNIT 1: Music Technology Portfolio 1 (70%) As part of this portfolio, students complete a sequenced realised performance- of a piece specified by Edexcel, a multi-track recording- of a piece of their own choice from the area of Popular Music Styles since 1910, lasting between two and four minutes, a creative sequenced arrangement - the arrangement will be based on one of the 2 prescribed stimuli supplied by Edexcel and a log book- recording the equipment used and to answer two questions on their creative sequenced arrangement. All coursework is completed under controlled conditions. AS UNIT 2: Listening and Analysing (30%) 1 hour 45 minute listening examination. Questions 1 - 4 will test students' aural perception of musical characteristics and features of the given extracts, from popular musical styles since 1910. Questions 5 and 6 will be drawn from the two special focus styles, testing wider understanding and knowledge.The course will equip you with the skills to go on and become a studio engineer or producer. You will have learnt skills to help you should you wish to go into composing for television or film. It would also be beneficial if you wanted to be a professional musician
