What will I learn? You will follow the OCR National Award in ICT course for two lessons a week, which will provide an interesting and varied range of experiences. This compulsory subject is equivalent to two GCSEs and is divided into three units: Unit 1 ICT skills for business · good working practices, including the organization of files using appropriate file and directory/folder names and the regular backing up of files · features of email software · methods of searching for information on the internet · methods of integrating different types of files into a document or presentation · the appropriate software to use for different tasks · methods of storing, retrieving and analysing data. Unit 2 Web Page creation · create a multimedia website · create hyperlinks · create interactive elements · create a user form for capturing user feedback · test a website and act on the findings · evaluate a website they have created. Unit 4 Multimedia Products · review several existing multimedia products · design a multimedia product · source and store suitable multimedia elements · create the multimedia product · seek feedback and suggest improvements This is an important area of study as ICT skills are needed for many careers, and ICT plays an important part in many of the subjects you will study at school. How will I be taught? You will be taught in groups of about 26 students in a computer suite. You will need to organise your time well and work consistently hard over the two years. A computer at home would be useful but not essential. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by completing a portfolio of evidence for each unit.
