By studying Media at AS and A2, you will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the media surrounding us, how it is put together and the impact it has on us and our everyday lives. As part of the course you will research the codes and conventions of magazine design and use this research to inform your own production of a magazine including covers and inside spreads. The Media course will broaden your skills in studio photography, graphic design in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign as well as your journalism skills. You will also gain analytical skills as you analyse media texts, documentaries, music videos, adverts and many more, gaining an insight into how the text has been put together and how the audience may respond to it. You will also explore how the media portrays various groups in society and understand more about the influence of the media. You'll visit Northumbria University and the University of Sunderland on study trips and the Sixth Form College has close links with the Tyneside Cinema. AS & A2 students can access our state-of-the-art Creative Studios on the Queen Alexandra Campus.
