AS Level in Chemistry A

UPDATED 20151012 08:57:49

Chemistry is at the core of our society enabling us to understand the world around us: how our bodies work, developing new materials to meet the demands of society, discovering new medicines to combat illness, finding new metal alloys, cosmetics and packaging materials. Chemistry forms the basis of the world’s largest industry and is essential in the study of any medical related subject. Chemistry is not only a fascinating subject to study but will support work in Physics and Biology and has strong links with other curriculum areas such as D&T and Geography. The study of Chemistry at A level (OCR Chemistry A) is split into six modules delivered over a two year course, examined wholly at the end of the second year. The modules cover the three strands of Chemistry; organic, inorganic and analytical. There is also a practical endorsement that students are awarded after the completion of various practical skills throughout the course. As a part of this, students are expected to keep an up to date laboratory notebook.
