Beethoven: the symphonies

An in-depth, critical exploration of Beethoven's nine symphonies and his other large-scale work. We will trace the symphony's 18th century contexts, the rise of symphonic ideal and navigate the problematic 'late' period. Tutor: Edward Henderson.
