Students follow a selection of units from the following: Principles of anatomy and physiology in sport; The physiology of fitness; Assessing risk in sport; Fitness training and programming; Sports coaching; Sports development; Fitness testing for sport and exercise; Practical team sport; Practical individual sports; Sports nutrition; Leadership in sport; Exercise health and lifestyle; Instructing exercise and fitness; Exercise for specific groups; Psychology for sports performance; Sports injuries; Talent identification and development in sport; Rules regulations and officiating in sport; Organising sports events All work is assessed through both coursework, which is externally assessed and a written examination. You need to attend regularly, keep up-to-date with work and meet regular deadlines for the submission of assignments which are assessed for your qualification. The course involves a lot of independent work. Staff point students in the right direction to be able to write the necessary assignment by independently researching the topics. Students will be asked to compare and contrast and critically evaluate work to achieve the higher grades.
