Health and Social Care OCR CAMBRIDGE TECHNICAL Level 3 Introductory Diploma This Introductory Diploma provides an ideal foundation for students preparing for employment in the health and social care sector. Students will be provided with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that transfer to the modern workplace. The course also offers opportunities for progression to higher education and is a natural progression from the BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care and the GCSE in Child Development. To be awarded this qualification the student must achieve a minimum of 60 credits. A total of 10 credits must be achieved from the following mandatory unit: Unit 1: Developing effective communication in health and social care. Optional Units: A minimum of 50 credits must be obtained from the following optional units: A BTEC First qualification in Health & Social Care or GCSE equivalents to 4 passes at grade C including English Language. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated. There are no examinations. The qualification grade will be calculated by adding the number of points achieved for each individual unit. A pass, merit or distinction will then be awarded and this is given as UCAS points for students intending to apply to University.
