The syllabus puts great emphasis on the practical applications of Biology and encourages an understanding of the ethical, economic and environmental implications. The course helps students to develop a scientific approach to problem solving. Mathematical skills and statistics are part of the course. Students are expected to spend time reading around the subject outside the classroom. There are 4 modules in the AS course including: Biological Molecules; Cells; Organisms exchange substances with their environment; Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms.
