This Qualification gives students practical skills for the modern world and helps them get the most from life, learning and work. It aims to ensure students have good communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening and assesses whether students can use these skills in range of relevant, real-life texts, contexts and scenarios. Functional English reflects today's challenges. Tasks may involve: Reading - reading leaflets, reports or articles Writing - writing letters, emails or notices Speaking - taking part in discussions and giving presentations. The course will look at the student’s comprehension of the written word and ability to identify key points within text, drafting and constructing documents as well as the correct use of grammar and punctuation and their ability to build reasoned arguments supported by evidence for class debates/discussions.
