This is a popular and unique digital course under the Art specification which covers a range of communication media such as digital photography (including Photoshop manipulation), digital illustration, 2D and 3D animation, 3D modelling, film making and web-site design. We offer professional software such as the Adobe CS6 Suite - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver and Premier. We also offer Blender 3D which prepares pupils for the possibility of gaining places on nationally recognised degree courses. Students have the opportunity of undertaking life drawing to enhance their portfolios and frequent visits to national and local collections are also on offer. CONT E N T Areas of study are intended to encourage exploration within either traditional or contemporary forms where students provide a variety of creative responses through a wide range of materials, processes and techniques.

Name: A Level Art Multimedia Qualification title: GCE A Level in Art and Design Qualification type: Assessment A-level component 1: 60% of qualification It is essential that selected students have had prior software experience in a chosen creative field, such as; digital photography manipulation, 2D and 3D animation, digital illustration, 3D modelling or film making and editing and web site design. Students begin the course with selected critical references which, following visual and written analysis, leads to individual creative pathways. The work will be printed out and presented in an A3 black sketchbook. A-level element 2: 40% of qualification A theme is given out by the exam board as a starting point for students’ own ideas. A body of work is generated and presented in black sketchbooks, with a final outcome produced during a 10 hour exam. Throughout the exam period students are supported, guided and nurtured with individual tuition. A-level component 3: 60% of qualification There are two parts to Year 13 coursework: 1. Personal Study – Students will select an area of study which features computer based artists and designers. Students investigate designers’ and artists’ work that they find inspiring and motivating. 2. Practical work – This unit extends the opportunity for creative development. Students produce sketchbooks, portfolios and show reels which also provide material for degree course applications. A-level element 4 (ESA): 40% of qualification A theme is given out by the exam board as a starting point for students’ own ideas. A body of work is generated and presented in A3 black sketchbooks, with a final outcome produced during a 15 hour exam. *All units will be assessed by the Centre and externally moderated by a visiting moderator.
