Crafts for Health

UPDATED 20150929 14:16:55

This free course will help you to improve your wellbeing and confidence whilst you learn new skills in painting and drawing. The Activities 4 Health programme is ideal if you are trying to reduce anxiety and stress. This is a practical course offering you a chance to explore a wide range of media and resources to develop skills and techniques to create a variety of exciting, and sometimes unusual, projects. There is an emphasis on recycling, re-using and re-purposing resources that you might already have at home, although there is a large choice of resources available within the classroom. You will learn basic paper crafting techniques at the beginning of the course and then you may have personal input into your final project, which could involve textiles. You will learn through tutor demonstration and presentation, independent practical activities, research to develop ideas and knowledge and by producing a portfolio of evidence built up through the individual learning plan (ILP). While working on your own projects you will be able to gain the skills to design and create a variety of collage items with an emphasis on the unusual and recycling. You will also gain an underpinning knowledge of the creative art and craft process and provide learners with a base from which to progress to study in this subject at a higher level. You will learn in a relaxed environment, meet new people and develop skills in working with collage. Throughout the course you will discuss with your tutor what you want to achieve and record it on your weekly ILP. You will decide with your tutor how long it will take to achieve your goal. You will receive verbal and written feedback throughout from your tutor. This is a non accredited course. This course provides you with the basic knowledge and skills to progress to a higher level of study within this or other art and craft disciplines.
