Sociology focuses on topics that affect our society today, for example: the way that culture identity is formed; how research is performed; understanding how and why our society is unequal; the impact of digital technology; what can be done about crime and deviance in society. Sociology provides students with the exciting opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. The course looks at contemporary issues and gives students the chance to develop a desirable set of key skills, including the ability to formulate clear, logical arguments with extensive evaluation from a range of theoretical perspectives. Many employers and universities respect candidates who have A-level Sociology as it show they understand demographics and individual needs, as well as having the ability to hold a debate, to think about things rationally but empathetically and to have a balanced view towards people of all backgrounds.
