Each Course, AS and A2 is split into 3 Units of work. You will learn through a series of preliminary studies and final piece in each Unit. Each Unit is a themed study and finished pieces for each Unit may vary in media and also in scale according to your artistic strengths and preferences. You will use a range of media from the following list: 3D Media – clay, card, wire, modroc, plaster, fabric, tissue and more…. 2D Media – paint, pencil, inks, pastel, acrylic and more….. You will be expected to record observations in a variety of ways including drawing and photography. You will also develop intellectual, imaginative and creative skills through Art and Design. You will be encouraged to develop investigative, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills, visual understanding and critical judgement. You will develop an understanding of art, craft and design in contemporary society and in other times and cultures. In part of the course you will be introduced to possibilities for future study and vocations in Art and Design. We positively encourage you to join us in visits to Art Galleries (local and national), Sculpture Parks, Art and Design Degree open days and End of Year Degree Shows at local Universities.
