In A level component one is worth 60% of the total grade, and component two makes up the other 40%. AS Level Component One: Personal Investigation - Working sequentially through a range of traditional dark room and digital photographic processes you will develop an understanding of the formal elements of photography, leading to well considered outcomes that demonstrates a creative approach that goes beyond mere observation and recording. Component Two: Externally Set Assignment - You are given 10 hours under exam conditions to produce an outcome based on a theme set by the exam board with an advanced preparatory period of working time. A Level Component One: Personal Investigation - To research, analyse and evaluate links between the work of past and contemporary photographers and artists, and your own emerging studio practice. To identify a theme and explore, develop and record your ideas towards a minimum of two outcomes. You will also be required to produce a written study of a minimum of 1000 words on a photographer(s) who particularly inspire your own practice. The personal study will count for 12% of the overall A level qualification. Component Two: Externally Set Assignment - You are given 15 hours under exam conditions to produce an outcome based on a theme set by the exam board with an advanced preparatory period of working time.
