COURSE CONTENT Unit 1: Portfolio of Skills - Three part Coursework portfolio: Product Investigation, Product Design and Product Manufacture. Unit 2: Design and Technology in Practice - Students will learn about a wide range of materials and processes to develop their knowledge of graphic and print design. They will look at the systems companies have to ensure top end products are made, including quality control and health & safety. Unit 3: Designing for the Future - Students develop their knowledge and understanding of modern design and production practices and issues, including use of ICT and systems and control technology. They will continue to improve their understanding of the effects of design on the environment and the responsibilities a designer has. Unit 4: Commercial Design - Full design portfolio on one of two pathways (student choice): Conceptual Design or Built Environment, covering everything from packaging to garden design.
