English Literature GCE AS

The English Literature course builds on student's achievements at GCSE and aims to develop further their interest in literary texts. As well as reading the set texts students are expected to read widely to develop and inform their understanding of particular themes, writers and genres. During the course there will be the opportunity to study poetry, drama and prose as well as to write creatively. Students will study texts written before 1900 and modern literature. Students study 2 units at AS and a further 2 units at A2.
