The Knights Templar Music Department is a vibrant and exciting place to be. We are committed to delivering a high quality curriculum, as well as offering our students the best possible music-making opportunities. We believe that studying Music at AS and A2 level offers students not only a rigorous academic experience, but also widens students’ musical horizons, offering them an practical opportunities to develop and grow as musicians and young people. The Knights Templar Music Department offers a variety of workshops and concerts organised throughout the year. This autumn we have already taken students to a concert given by the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre, and run a Vocal Workshop with the renowned A Cappella group, Apollo5. Planned trips and visits for the spring and summer term include a visit to a cinema screening of the Royal Opera House La Boheme, as well the A Level Music Conference at the Institute of Education in London. Every two years, we run a European Music Tour and last year had a very memorable time in Lake Garda and Venice. We also put on a musical every two years, and recent productions have included The Sound of Music and Sweet Charity. Students at KTS have the opportunity to join many musical extra-curricular groups, including Orchestra, Choir, Chamber Choir, Big Band, Wind Band, as well as many smaller ensembles such as Wind Quintet, Brass Ensemble, String Ensemble and Classical Guitar Ensembles. We encourage our AS students to become Music Prefects, in order for them to develop their leadership skills, help out with our extra-curricular ensembles and gain experience in the classroom with the lower years. We offer students various ways of keeping in touch with us and following rehearsals and events, and have a Twitter account @music_kts which we encourage students to follow.
