UPDATED 20160916 14:22:25

What will I learn? Year 12: You will learn how to explore the different approaches and possibilities of textiles using a variety of skills, media and techniques. Understanding is demonstrated through a reflective combination of knowledge and skills resulting in an expressive outcome. Through the completion of a personal investigation you will learn how to investigate an aspect of textiles that really interests you. Many students focus on fashion or interior furnishing. You will be encouraged to make links between your own work and the work of other artists and designers. Visits to The Clothes Show in Birmingham and museums and fashion boutiques in London are essential to support this element of the course. Year 13: You will be given greater creative freedom to explore and develop your work in a specific area of your choice. It is very much about your individuality as an artist as you are able to a dictate the direction of your work. The emphasis at this level is on you as an independent learner. How will I be assessed? Research project. Personal investigations. Controlled tests. What are the entry requirements? Must meet the standard A Level entry requirements for the 6th form. Future opportunities • Use the qualification to compliment an alternative choice for Higher Education; • Go on to study a Foundation course in Art & Design; • Go directly to university to study one of the specialist areas related to Textiles: Fashion Design; Printed Textiles Design; Woven Textile Design; Mixed Media Textiles Design.
