Music history is studied through a selection of set works, which include instrumental and vocal music in Year 12, as well as ‘applied’ music (e.g. music for film or TV) in Year 13; For the Composing components there is a variety of options, and in Year 13 these include a compulsory ‘technical study’, completing a piece of music in a given style. The Performing components are similar to GCSE, with options for performing on a separate instrument or in a small ensemble.
