UPDATED 20150929 16:23:46

This course will provide all the skills and technical knowledge required to gain access to our Foundation Degree. The course will be delivered on a day release basis, one day per week for one year. It is ideal for people who already have Level 3 qualifications in other subjects and are looking for a career change into engineering. The course covers the primary aspects of general engineering and incorporates some of the elements contained within the specialist Electrical, Mechanical, Operations and Manufacturing BTEC study programmes. By following a general engineering study programme, you will be positioned perfectly to commence a pathway to specialism at degree level and beyond. Local employers and universities all agree that developing a wide range of technical skills at Level 3, rather than specialising too early in your career, will set you apart as a future engineer who is far more valuable to local companies, many of which are working in the advanced technologies sector where multi skilling is a vital skillset to have. We will provide you with an understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing and Operations Engineering principles at Level 3 ('A' level standard). The course will also cover Mathematics, Computer Aided Design and 3D Printing Progression to the Foundation Degree is assured upon successful completion of this course.
