Applied Art and Design Double Award This course would be taken in addition to the A Level Art & Design: Fine Art course and is for students who have a definite career path towards further study in art and design at University or College. This additional Art A level would develop a broader art portfolio for Art and Design University course
Name: Applied Art and Design Double Award Qualification title: GCE A Level in Applied Art and Design (Double Award) Qualification type: Assessment Component 1: Personal Investigation Students will produce a portfolio of work which will include at least one extended collection of work, or project, based on an idea, concept or issue which demonstrates their ability to sustain work from initial ideas through to realisation. An extended related study of a minimum of 1000 words also has to be developed. Assessed in June. 60% of A level mark. Component 2: Externally Set Assignment Students will be provided with an examination question form from the Exam board in February, they will then select one to develop into preparatory research work. Following the preparatory time students will complete 15 hours of unaided, supervised time. In the 15 hours students must produce a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes, informed by their preparatory work. Assessed in June. 40% of A level mark.
