A2 consists of Unit 4: A recital of no longer than 12 to 15 minutes at a minimum standard of Grade VI, Unit 5: Composition Portfolio: Student submit one composition based on one brief from a choice of four. Students may opt to complete two compositions instead of the technical study, Technical Study: Students harmonise an 8 to 10 bar phrase in the manner of JS Bach; Unit 6: Students sit a 2 hour written paper 'Developing Musical Understanding' : Section A: Aural Analysis.questions on listening excerpts taken from set works, Section B: Music in Context - essay style questions on the set works, Section C: Continuity and Change in Instrumental Music
