Overview of the course This two - year qualification is intended for candidates who want to train to work as professional counsellor in an agency setting. Successful completion of this course means that you will be able to provide a therapeutic counselling service within the context of an agency framework. The syllabus includes; Work: ethically and safely as an agency counsellor; within a counselling relationship; with client diversity; within a user - centred agency approach; with self - awareness in the counselling process; within a framework of counselling theory & skills; self - reflectively as an agency counsellor This course requires 100 hours work placement and 40 hours personal therapy. Assessment: Candidate Portfolio and externally - assessed audio tape and written paper. Candidates must pass both the internal and external assessment to receive the qualification. TC - L4 is accredited by the Office of the Qualifications & Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) into the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Ring book(s), pens. You will need to buy some recommended books - a book list will be provided. You will be required to find a work placement in a counselling agency - we will advise you on this. If you have CPCAB Level 4 and 5, you can take two Open University short courses and achieve an OU Foundation Degree in Counselling (see www.cpcab.co.uk). With a further year's practice, Level 6 Certificate in Counselling Supervision
