E754 - The Diploma in Art & Design (Photography) is a one year course designed to introduce you to the skills needed to enter in to the photography profession. Students learn to develop and print their own photographs using traditional wet based darkroom techniques alongside digital skills and techniques. All activities will be underpinned by a core of drawing/visualisation skills. The Course is equivalent to 1.5 A levels. The course consists of a variety of practical and theory based projects and workshops providing an opportunity for learners to build confidence and expand their horizons within the field of photography. Assignments on the course vary in timescale depending on the nature of the project. The course actively seeks to deliver 'live' assignments as part of a vocationally guided course. Live briefs have been delivered in collaboration with a variety of institutions including Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery, Doncaster Market, The Doncaster Belles and Doncaster Archives. Previous National Diploma students have gone on to study Photography at degree level. Opportunities exist to enter the Creative Industries at a Junior Level but further study would be recommended to achieve employment in many job roles including fashion photographer, industrial/commercial and freelance photographer.
