The course which focuses on practical activity but includes some written theory and portfolio building, consists of the following units: Safe working practices in construction Information, quantities and communicating with others Building methods and construction technology Produce basic woodworking joints Maintain and use Carpentry and Joinery hand tools Prepare and use Carpentry and Joinery portable power tools. You will learn a wide variety of practical skills (and theoretical knowledge) which can be used in either Carpentry or Joinery, through the production of a variety of small wooden structures. There will be a number of theory assessments with a final practical assignment to complete the qualification. Integrated into the course will be key skills in communication and application of number. Course is approximately 40% theory, 60% practical. You will need to provide pens, pencils and drawing equipment for the theory side as well as safety footwear. Other Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied as necessary.
