The aim of this course is to give those who have little or no experience of painting a sound understanding of the basic principles. Through a series of art activities and mini projects, you will be introduced, step by step, to a range of ideas and techniques and will gain confidence in using water based paint to create interesting and informed visual images. You will draw inspiration from a broad selection of primary and secondary resources and there will be scope for you to bring your own areas of interest to the sessions. Returning students from the previous course will develop their skills further. By the end of the course you should be able to, Understand the principles of basic colour theory and mix a range of colours with confidence, Use colour tonally and blend paint together to create a three dimensional effect, Add interest to a painting using mark making and texture, Work from a range of primary and secondary subject matter, Use acrylic paints and watercolours with increased confidence, Recognise and respond to the painting style and technique of selected artists, There is no set 'homework' but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home. There is no qualification for this course. This course is suitable for beginners and those who have a little experience.
