Should Late Antiquity be seen as a period of decline or transformation? Topics include: Constantine's conversion; Julian the Apostate; Justinian and Theodora; Egypt in the sixth century, the rise of Islam. We end with a brief look at Charlemagne through the eyes of his biographer Anyone interested in medieval history. No prior knowledge is necessary but a good understanding of English is essential.
