GCSE Art and Design (Short Course) EDEXCEL

UPDATED 20150720 10:24:50

The main aim of the GCSE Art course is to develop your visual language skills and for you to build a comprehensive portfolio of work to progress to further Art and Design courses or employment. The course covers a range of art and design activities and assignments, and you will have the opportunity to experiment with different media and techniques to explore your strengths and preferences. The course consists of 60% coursework and 40% externally set exam all marked at the centre and externally moderated at the end of the course. The projects will be self directed from a main starting point with input from the tutor. Projects will need to be developed at home whether through practical work or researching ideas for your sketchbook. PLEASE NOTE: Regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2 hours of home study is a requirement from you, enrolling on this course. If you enjoy being creative and imaginative, have an interest in art and design, would like to gain a recognised art qualification, and want to develop your visual skills, then this is the right course for you.
