All students are welcome on this Art course but they must be interested in drawing and painting as Expression in a contemporary manner within the tradition of painting. The course is loosely structured around the following Drawing and painting from the life model and still life. Students are also encouraged to gather their own materials as sources for drawing, painting and collage. Encouragement to view current exhibitions and discussion of the philosophy of art are of importance to assist you in your development. Projects are developed through discovery and experimentation and not through a highly structured path as many courses are. By the end of the course you will be able to: Produce a series of drawings from a starting point of your choice for a painting. Demonstrate the use of colour theory within your paintings. Use materials appropriately to develop your ideas. Use a range of source images to develop your paintings. Research techniques from traditional & contemporary artists and demonstrate these within your own experimentation. Aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines. These courses are not suitable for those new to art, instead promoting self directed learning at a higher level. It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another adult please ask to speak to the Programme Manager before you enrol.
