Who is the programme for? If you are looking for a course that offers a wide range of Art and Design experiences, the BTEC Level 1 Diploma will provide an excellent start to your career. The course will involve a great deal of practical work and you will learn about different areas within the creative industries during your projects. This Level 1 course is for students who would like a career in Art and Design but have not yet achieved the entry requirements for a Level 2 course. What is the programme structure? You will be given assignment briefs to work to on a range of topics. Projects will usually be about 7 weeks in length and these will contribute to the units you need in order to pass the qualification. What does the programme include? You will have a 2D lesson that concentrates on drawing, painting and design work. There is a 3D lesson in which you will be able to make work in a variety of materials for example clay,wire, plaster, wood, papier mache etc. Are there any special facilities for the programme? You will have lessons in specialist rooms, for example the textiles and 3D rooms What award will I achieve? BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Art and Design To prepare you for a higher level course, employment or university you will be required to achieve a Functional Skills Qualification in English and maths. These qualifications will be studied at the appropriate level for your personal development/progression needs.
