Sugarcraft Advanced How will this course help me? To enable learners to keep up to date with new methods, designs and ideas in cake decoration. Who is the course for? To enable the more advanced learner to build on their knowledge and skills in the latest methods, designs and ideas in cake decoration. What can I expect to learn? The sessions will normally consist of demonstrations by the tutor, followed by class practical work. There may be additional work to be done at home between sessions to support your work but this is not essential. Initial assessment - this will help us to identify your starting point and what you want to get out of the course. Health & Safety/Fire procedures. Advanced learners will have the opportunity to work on individual projects. Seasonal projects, flowers, piping skills and cakes will be covered. Subsequent work will be developed according to learners needs. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practise at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practise in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Some Specialist equipment may be needed – advice will be given before purchasing. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning.
