If you have an interest in how film and TV is constructed and the application of special effects, then this course could be the one for you. Film and TV productions go through many processes before they hit the screens. Post-production involves editing, colour grading, special effects, audio design and final mastering. This programme will prepare you for a career working behind the scenes across a variety of roles in the film or TV industry or help you to progress to University to take your studies to a higher level. Starting with the basics of film production giving you the opportunity to edit your own films, you will then learn about the production of both digital and physical special effects. You will design your own special effects and apply them to your films, learning about 3D design and modelling and green screen production. In addition students will be given the opportunity to complete the post-production and effects for other works produced professionally for TV broadcast. Audio post-production, including audio effects and soundtrack production, are also vital skills that you will develop whilst studying on the course. Over the two year programme, Level 3 Extended Diploma students will complete 18 units of study and Level 3 Diploma students will complete 12 units of study. In year 1 you will be introduced to a broad range of skills. This will then give you the opportunity to develop a more independent route in the second year. All of your studies will be supported by related theoretical studies that make up an important component of the course.
