You'll cover all the areas of children's care and development that you'll need to work in an early years setting. You'll build on your existing knowledge of children's development and learning, as well as develop your understanding of current policies and practice in early years settings. The course is also a great opportunity to develop a number of transferable skills such as discussion, presentation, essay and report-writing, problem-solving, planning, assessment, team working, and using ICT. During the course you'll need to work for at least ten hours per week in a childcare post, in either a voluntary or paid capacity. You'll study the following subjects: study skills and current initiatives personal development and professional practice play, children's early learning and the curriculum anti-discriminatory practice observation and assessment child development and wellbeing safeguarding children meeting individual needs managing behaviour working with parents and carers to support children the curriculum in action managing your professional role The course is a great way to meet fellow early years professionals and share examples of best practice.
