The Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing provides college based theoretical learning with as well as hands-on training within a veterinary practice. This course equips you with the skills and knowledge to become a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse. It will train you in all the practical and theoretical aspects that enable you to enter the profession.To become a qualified Veterinary Nurse, you must complete 94 weeks of work in an approved training practice (veterinary surgery) in addition to the units studied at the College. Your total training time including college and practice work must equate to 3,290 hours.Candidates will need to have access to suitable work experience in a clinical veterinary practice that is registered as a training practice. As part of the course, you will receive guided training within a veterinary practice. A clinical coach will be provided to monitor your progress, which will be recorded on the Nursing Progress Log (NPL). The NPL will need to be completed by both yourself and the clinical coach and will form part of your assessment. You will study a set of core units and then six additional units following the Small Animal Pathway. This course provides you with theoretical knowledge with college-based learning as well as the opportunity to apply this knowledge in a practical environment through hands-on training within a veterinary practice. You will gain the technical skills and understanding needed to undertake a range of duties, including diagnostic tests, medical treatments and minor surgical procedures under veterinary direction. This course equips you with the skills and knowledge to become a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse. It will train you in all the practical and theoretical aspects that enable you to enter the profession.
