Course Overview The aims of this course are: To understand the role of the Community Interpreter To learn about the sectors where interpreters may be required to work To develop and practise sight translation To demonstrate the skills of two-way interpreting To learn how to develop and enhance own performance. The areas covered by the course are: Education, Health, Social Services, Immigration, Housing, Welfare - Benefit System. You will be required to attend 75 hours of taught classes and carry out a significant amount of self-study. The course is accredited through the completion of a portfolio of evidence and/or course assessment. You will be required to complete an Individual Initial Assessment form at the start of your course. Your tutor will provide induction and guidance at the beginning of your course. Entry Requirements You should be fluent in both languages and have high competency in speaking, reading and writing in English (at A level) and speaking and reading in the second language (at A level). Some interpreting/translation experience is highly recommended.
